What wacky weather! I always find the switch between winter and spring trying. The added light in evenings is a big plus, however. As far as cheerful spring flowers go, I hope you all picked up your daffodil bouquets to benefit cancer research and have them displayed on your desks and tables.

Here is another opportunity for a great meal and family fun: Penny Wong of Grace Church Preschool announces that their annual Spaghetti Supper and Silent Auction is tomorrow night from 5 to 7 p.m. Among the many things the school wants to accomplish are renovations to the playground and an enrichment series of visiting artists. Giordano’s is cooking the meal — you can’t beat that! Takeout is available as well. Silent auction? Of course. Items for auction are restaurant gift certificates, party events, off-Island trips, jewelry and more. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and kids and a family of five eats for $25. I’ll see you there.

I’m reminding you that today is your last chance to call Leslie Clapp of the Center for Living to register for their cultural luncheon on March 23. I know I have been informing you early, but since materials are needed for our library’s Great Decisions discussions group that begins on April 11, it is necessary to register with Betty Burton now. You may do so online at vhlibrary.org or call 508-696-4211, extension 16. Betty also has a few spots left for the healthy eating series. The next one is on Tuesday, March 26 at 7 p.m. Dr. Carol Kenney speaks on Growing Older Better. A a binder of materials is provided, so a head count is necessary. Contact the library to pre-register.

Best wishes and congratulations to Shannon McAuliffe and Ian Garvie who will wed in August. Shannon is a star soprano and musician, one of my very favorite students to graduate from our high school. I’m wishing them a world of happily ever after.
