In a recent publication by UNICEF, the U.S. ranked number 24 overall out of the 29 countries for the Child Well-Being in Rich Countries survey. The bottom four places in UNICEF’s rankings are occupied by three of the poorest countries in the survey — Latvia, Lithuania and Romania — and by one of the richest, the U.S.

This weekend The Martha’s Vineyard Film Center and the Vineyard Committee on Hunger are sponsoring a movie and discussion that highlights these issues of poverty in the U.S. The award-winning documentary film A Place at the Table will be presented on Saturday, May 4, at 4 p.m., at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center, 79 Beach Road in Vineyard Haven at the Tisbury Marketplace. There will be a discussion afterwards with representatives from local agencies including the Health Care Alliance, Mass in Motion, Vineyard Committee on Hunger, Center for Living and Elder Services
