After 23 seasons with the Vineyarders, boys’ varsity tennis head coach Ned Fennessy is stepping down. Coach Fennessy’s squad was a perfect 23-0 last season, and won the Division 3 state championships. Their win streak came to an end last week against Barnstable, a Division 1 team, but they quickly picked up three more wins.

During his tenure with the team, Coach Fennessy has dedicated his time not just to athletes but also to scholars. His teams consistently earn Academic Achievement Gold Certificates from the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletics Association. In 2007 the seven starters’ cumulative GPA was 3.7.

All current and former players are invited to attend a retirement party for Coach Fennessy which will be held June 1 from 1 to 3 p.m. at The Wharf in Edgartown.
