A hearing for Tisbury police officer Kelly Kershaw before the town selectmen has been rescheduled for Monday, June 10.

The hearing, initially scheduled for Tuesday, June 3, was postponed due to scheduling conflicts with Ms. Kershaw’s attorney, selectmen said after their Tuesday meeting. They did not note the specific nature of the hearing.

Ms. Kershaw, 30, is the subject of a pending criminal complaint in Edgartown district court. She is facing several charges after allegedly interfering with firefighters trying to fight a dryer fire at her home last month. She is charged with interfering with a firefighter, assault and battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct and threat to commit a crime. A complaint was issued two weeks ago; arraignment is set for June 28.

Ms. Kershaw is currently on paid administrative leave.

Under the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law, the hearing can be public or private; Ms. Kershaw can request to make the hearing public if she wishes. Selectmen said they were unsure if that right would be exercised. If it is not, the meeting will be held in executive session.
