The Moth is coming back! It began in New York city as a some friends telling stories to each other as a way back to a time when people did tell stories to each other — face to face. It moved to a bar and the audiences grew. Now the Moth is nationwide and on the radio. No notes, no help; just one person on stage telling something true and meaningful.

Last summer the Moth came to Union Chapel in Oak Bluffs. There was a mix of seasoned Moth veterans and one Vineyarder, Cynthia Riggs. Those who were there will never forget her story. The venue sold out in about a week.

This year the Moth is headed to the Tabernacle in Oak Bluffs to handle the demand. The event is Saturday, August 3. Doors open at 7 p.m. Stories start at 8 p.m.

The evening is hosted by Adam Gopnick, a writer for the New Yorker, and will once again showcase both off and on-Island storytellers.
