President Obama and his family departed from the Vineyard under rainy skies this evening, concluding a quiet nine-day Vineyard vacation for the first family.

Marine One left Martha’s Vineyard Airport just after 9 p.m., and arrived at Cape Cod Coast Guard Air Station at 9:16 p.m. The president greeted well-wishers there before boarding Air Force One.

The president’s last day of vacation unfolded much like the others: quiet and golf-centric. After a morning at home, the president headed to the golf course for the sixth time during his vacation, spending the afternoon at the private Vineyard Golf Club in Edgartown. Today’s golfing partners were World Bank president Jim Kim, staffer Mike Brush and lawyer Eunu Chun.

Then it was back to the family’s Chilmark rental house for the last time. The motorcade left Chilmark at about 8:42 p.m. Despite steady rain and the late hour, there were a few people standing at the foot of driveways or along the street waving or taking pictures. There were two people standing on the darkened porch at Alley's.

Marine One and two MV-22 Osprey helicopters were waiting on the tarmac at the airport; press, staff and secret service traveled on the Osprey. The president, wearing a casual jacket and khakis, stopped to wave before boarding Marine One.
