Editors, Vineyard Gazette:

As the old saying goes, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Well, the Congress is broke and it needs fixing.

In high school our performance was gauged by a letter grade system: an A for performing at 90 per cent or better, a B for 80 per cent, a C for 70 per cent and a D would get us by with a score of 60 per cent.

To compensate for the group’s dearth of mental giants, let’s lower the bar by 10 points and say that no member of Congress can apply for reelection unless they receive a passing grade of at least 50 per cent from we the people.
