On Sunday 73 people took part in the 23rd annual Martha’s Vineyard CROP Walk.

“We had a number of dogs walk, more than last year,” Reverend Alden Besse, one of the coordinators said.

Mr. Besse said that close to $20,000 was raised, just shy of last year’s $23,000 fundraising effort. The contributions came in many monetary denominations, even pennies. Numerous kids, some in strollers, walked all or part of the 6.5 mile route which began at St. Augustine Church in Vineyard Haven led to Oak Bluffs and then returned back to St. Augustine’s.

The money raised at the CROP walk goes to Church World Service with some of the money coming back to the Vineyard.
