The undefeated boys’ soccer team is expected to draw a crowd when it begins postseason play at home on Monday against Scituate. Game time is 4:30 p.m. under the lights at the regional high school field.

The boys closed out their regular season with a 15-0-2 record and a perfect 8-0 Eastern Athletic Conference record, earning a number one seed in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletics Association division three south section tournament.

The Vineyarders had a bye in the first round and begin play in the quarterfinals. They will play eighth-seeded Scituate, which defeated Old Rochester 2-0 on Saturday. The Scituate Sailors posted a 10-5-1 regular season record to win their division of the Patriot League. Their losses have come at the hands of the number three ranked team in the state, Silver Lake, and Patriot League teams Pembroke, Hingham and Duxbury. They also lost to Plymouth South, a squad in the same league as Vineyard rival Nauset. Nauset defeated Plymouth South in both meetings this season, but lost both of its matches to the Vineyard.

The Vineyard squad has made the most of its bye round, scrimmaging with Nauset (that team plays in the division two tournament), last Thursday and practicing Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

This is the third time in the past four years the Vineyard has qualified for the playoffs. In 2011, they lost in the first round to Bishop Feehan.
