Partly sunny skies and temperatures in the 50s are in the forecast as Martha's Vineyard prepares to recognize its veterans.

The Veterans Day Parade will step off at 10:45 a.m. on Monday, from Nancy’s at the Oak Bluffs Harbor. The parade continues to the Civil War monument near Ocean Park, where a ceremony will take place. For the third year in a row, Oak Bluffs has been designated a site of regional importance by the Department of Veterans Affairs for its observance of the day. Peter Herrmann of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9261 is the organizer of the parade.

The Avenue of Flags will be installed at 7:30 a.m. at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Vineyard Haven, and will remain in place until 3 p.m. Volunteers are needed to set up and remove the flags. Those who are interested may report to the cemetery to assist.

At 1 p.m. a visit with veterans at Windemere is planned.
