They are teachers, plumbers, bankers, artists, fishermen, scallopers, shopkeepers, retirees and twenty-somethings. And while all of these roles are important, this weekend the key characteristic that binds this seemingly disparate group is that they sing. The Island Community Chorus holiday concert is here, taking place at the Old Whaling Church in Edgartown on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 8, at 3 p.m.

The community chorus has been rehearsing since early September for their annual holiday concert. Some of the songs performed this year will be Here We Come A-Caroling, Ding-Dong, Christmas Time Is Here, I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm, Jingle Bells, Fum, fum, fum, Twelve Days of Christmas and Masters in This Hall.
