The West Tisbury Congregational Church moves over to the Agricultural Hall once again for a 5 p.m. Christmas Eve service. The evening opens with carols and a Christmas pageant performed by children from all over the Island. Rev. Cathlin Baker presides over the service and Brian Weiland directs the children’s chorus.

The event usually draws hundreds of Vineyarders from all faiths to the Agricultural Hall. At the end of the service the lights are turned off and candles passed around and lit. While singing Silent Night, Holy Night, the crowd departs into the night, the way lit by the moon and the stars, a very Vineyard Christmas feeling.
