It’s January on the Vineyard, the time of year when the Island goes gray and dark, and really cold, too. Not the season one thinks about taking a dip in the ocean. But we are speaking now of this world, the one inhabited by those of us still alive and susceptible to the laws of nature.

But what of the ghosts who walk among us? Perhaps this is their season, the time when whaling widows come down from their lookout posts and make a mad dash to the sea, and salty men of yore decide to once again take up the yoke and rattle their spirit chains.

Well, it’s possible, and this Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Harbor View hotel some expert ghost hunters will get down to the business of contacting with those who are no longer with us, in the flesh, that is.

Joe Chin, formerly of the Ghost Hunters and Ghost Hunters International series on the SyFy channel has traveled the world seeking out the paranormal. Edgartown now calls to him. He will be accompanied by Brian Cano, formerly of Haunted Collected series also on SyFy, and Christine Downs, a member of T.A.P.S. (the Atlantic Paranormal Society). Spirit medium Tiffany Rice will also be on hand to help people connect with departed loved ones.

Doors open at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Readings begin at 1 p.m., Mr. Cano speaks at 2 p.m., Mr. Chin and Ms. Downes' talk begins at 3:15 p.m. and a group panel question and answer is from 5 to 5:45 p.m. From 6 to 7:30 p.m. there will be an actual ghost investigation done at the Kelley House.

Tickets are $60 for a day pass and $80 for the day and the evening ghost hunt.

Tickets are available at tiffanyrice.com.
