The Animal Shelter is pleased to announce the adoptions of two of the cat population, Lucky, a large male tabby, and Bootsie, aptly named as she sports four white paws. Jackson, the fluffy white bichon frisee, who is the foster dog of one of the Shelter’s volunteers, remains on live-in status with her. We hope he proves a good companion and will remain there forever.

These being the dog days of winter, there is very little new news from the Animal Shelter. Our resident cats are cozy and warm at the shelter awaiting their person to arrive. Joe Frazier, who would not punch anyone, continues to occupy his hidey hole in the carpeted tower that he has chosen as his nest. Penny, a tiny old cat, is nestled down in the rocking chair. Bubba must be missing Bootsie as they were surrendered together and she has already been claimed by a new owner. Recovered from her spaying surgery, Lacey, the small black kitten, is ready to take her place as a pet. Tortellini, the female tortoise shell, and O.B., a cantankerous kitty, still need homes. Not too many people are out and about in this weather, but we welcome anyone who would like to stop by and give these felines some attention.

Yet another snowfall covers the remaining berries that feed our birds. Remember to keep those feeders full!

Shelter hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday and Monday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.
