Martha’s Vineyard listener supported public radio station WCAI has increased its flagship signal on 90.1 FM from 1,200 watts to 12,500 making it more accessible to more people on the Cape and Islands.

WCAI announced that it is bringing back its monthly local music program MVY Music Hour. Hosted by a familiar voice, Barbara Dacey, the revamped program will feature archival interviews and one-of-a-kind performances by local musicians and artists.

Increasing the transmitter strength allows the NPR station to reach more than 200,000 new listeners along the southeastern coastal community.

WCAI will continue to broadcast on 91.1 WNAN on Nantucket and 94.3 WZAI, which reaches the mid and outer Cape communities. The station is a locally produced service of WGBH Radio.
