For the third straight year, all the varsity winter sports teams have qualified for the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletics Association postseason tournament.

Girls’ basketball became the fourth and final team to earn their spot last Friday with a 60-32 defeat of Somerset. Boys’ basketball and girls’ hockey qualified within one day of each other at the beginning of the month. Boys’ hockey notched their spot last week with a 6-3 win over league rival Coyle & Cassidy.

In order to qualify for the tournament a team must earn 20 points during the regular season. A win garners two points. In the case of the hockey teams, a tie game nets one point.

Tournament seedings will be announced Friday for basketball and Saturday for hockey.

The varsity swim team does not compete in a tournament but instead participates in regional and statewide meets. Freshman Renee Goodale represented the Vineyard in the Massachusetts Division 2 state meet last weekend, competing in the 200 yard IM and the 100 yard breaststroke.
