The Dukes County/Friends of Sengekontacket Barrier Beach Task Force has a task for volunteers: dig out spotted knapweed and plant beach grass in test plots on State Beach. Meet at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 29 (raindate is March 30), on the beach at pathway 22, the path nearest the Big Bridge on the Oak Bluffs side. All you need is work gloves, a trowel or garden spade and some sunscreen. The project is permitted by the Oak Bluffs Conservation Commission.
