An art competition for Island high school students sponsored by the Vineyard Conservation Society was launched this week. High school students are invited to submit works that evoke their ideas of the most treasured aspects of the Vineyard, whether it’s place, plants, animals or institutions. Mediums allowed include paint, drawing, sculpture and photography. Entries must be submitted by May 1 and will be exhibited at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center for two weeks in early May. A reception and prize ceremony is scheduled for May 10 at the film center.

To find out how to submit art work, call Brendan O’Neill at 508-693-9588 or Joan Malkin at 646-894-0656 or visit vineyardconservation.org.
