The weather over the past week has felt a little more spring-like, with temperatures in the mid 60s. While enjoying Easter Sunday with the Carroll family, we strolled through the woods while the children were on an eggciting extravaganza. Well, some strolled, while there were those of us who were riding along just slowly enough to see the first signs of mayflowers as well as the bright red boxberries. The berries were as delicious as always and there was an abundance of them for all to try. The children enjoyed their first taste of the berry. Hmm, it tastes like mint. The Easter egg hunt at Aquinnah Public Library was a success with 29 kids of all ages from under a year old to a girl of about 14 years of age who was very helpful in assisting the younger kids find the treats. The Easter egg hunt maestro this year was Claus Smith, son of Jed and Nonie, who collected quite a lot of stuff but then was witnessed sharing it with others. Hats off to him! A good time was had by all and the quote of the day came from a young three-year-old-ish girl who said very seriously “beans, beans, ders beans in da eggs.”
