The 23rd annual Harbor Festival rolls into Oak Bluffs on Saturday, June 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

And what is a harbor festival you may ask?

Well, it’s one part music, two parts local crafts, a flurry of food, a pinch of antiques, a dash of something you always wanted to do and see but didn’t know it yet, plus a whisper of salt in the air, sand between your toes and a whiff of freedom in the air, or is that boat engine fuel? Same thing when you’re standing on a dock looking out to sea and thinking the life of a landlubber runs to the quiet and ordinary side.

Come by foot, car, boat, bike, jet ski or jet pack — how you arrive is not important, rather that you do indeed arrive.

Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish will be waiting to serenade you, as will the Beetlebung Steele Band and Goodnight Louise. So will raffles, local food and nonprofit organizations baking homemade goodies.

The event is free. And so are you.

Call 508-560-4914 or email mvdockside@aol.com for more information.

Rain date is June 22.
