The Rev. Karen Coleman will be the preacher and celebrant at the opening service at Trinity Episcopal Church on Sunday, June 22.

Currently the priest in charge at St. James Church in Somerville, Dr. Coleman is the first African American female to be installed as a rector in the diocese of Massachusetts.

She received her undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and master of divinity and doctor of ministry degrees from Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge.

She has served as a board member for the Massachusetts Council of Churches, Ecclesia Ministries and the Boston Area Gleaners.

The Trinity Episcopal Church hosts visiting clergy throughout the summer months.

The church is located across from the Steamship Authority terminal in Oak Bluffs. All services begin at 9 a.m.
