The deadline to file election papers to run for a spot on the Martha’s Vineyard Commission is Tuesday, July 29.

Every two years, nine commissioners are elected by voters Island-wide. There must be at least one but no more than two commissioners from each town.

Those interested in running can get the papers from any town clerk’s office, and must return them to the clerk in their hometown by 5 p.m. on July 29. Ten signatures from registered voters are required to get on the ballot for the November 4 election. For more information, contact your town clerk.
