My father, Tweed, and I have been coming to Martha’s Vineyard all of our lives. This year we decided to see the Island in a new way, so with our family dog Tisbury, we made a plan to walk the Island’s 50-mile perimeter in short segments. While we walk through the various terrains on our Walk Ashore, as we’ve entitled it, I will photograph the beautiful and interesting scenes we encounter. When planning this journey, we wanted it to be both a father-daughter adventure as well as an opportunity give back to the Island that we love so dearly. Walk Ashore will raise funds for the Massachusetts Audubon Society’s Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary, which is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its summer camp. Both my brother Winthrop and I fondly remember attending the camp, so we thought this was a fitting occasion. You can make a tax-deductible donation in two ways: purchase a Walk Ashore photograph at walkashore.storenvy.com (all profits are donated to Felix Neck); or pledge an amount per mile by emailing tweed@roosevelt.com or phoning 508-693-3199. Follow our adventure on facebook.com/WalkAshore, and donate to the cause!
