Mary Jane Carpenter, historian and author of the Gazette online column Back Stories, shares the history behind five West Chop homes presented by the Martha’s Vineyard Museum tour on Saturday, Sept. 13. Ms. Carpenter will give a lecture at the West Chop Club Casino, 162 Iroquois avenue in Vineyard Haven at 11 a.m. A patron mimosa brunch will be served before the talk, at 10 a.m. at a private home on West Chop.

The house tour takes place from noon to 3 p.m. with five homes open for touring. Patron tickets are $75 for the brunch, talk and tour; tour and talk tickets are $45, and the cost for the tour only is $35. Reservations are required for patron tickets and are strongly encouraged for the other events.

Parking is available on Franklin street and tickets can be picked up in front of the West Chop tennis courts on the day of the tour. The last tickets for the tour will be sold at 2 p.m.
