Shorter days and colder temperatures getting you down? Take heart. October also means Beach Plum pizza night.

Beach Plum Restaurant is continuing its partnership with Island Grown Schools with Thursday night pizza night. Students will harvest with Beach Plum staff at a different farm each week. On Thursday nights, the fresh vegetables will be served on pizzas baked in Beach Plum’s new wood oven.

The first pizza night was held Wednesday, Sept. 24, but the rest will take place on Thursdays.

The wood oven, too, was a collaborative effort between Island craftspeople. Beach Plum chef Chris Fischer and intern Miles Cornwall poured the foundation; Alan Klein and Andy Magdanz sourced, assembled and set the oven; and mason John Maloney laid the brick and built the facade.

On Thursdays through October 16, the wood oven will be busy firing pizzas from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be additional food items offered; the menu can be viewed at beachplumrestuarant.com. There is also a pizza to-go option. Place orders by calling 508-645-9454.
