It is quite reasonable to recognize that the policy makers in the town of Oak Bluffs are exploring a “paradigm shift” to strategize making the Oak Bluffs beaches part of its revenues to the town. This is a public/private partnership which includes the merchants and the public spaces — they are one entity.

The mission of the Oak Bluffs citizen beach committee is to assure that the beaches of Oak Bluffs are maintained, healthy, safe and inviting for the people who live in and visit Oak Bluffs. Future generations will benefit from the action we take now. The committee must not be viewed as a special interest group. It is not. It is the catalyst for refocusing the importance of the Oak Bluffs beaches to the entire Vineyard.

We want to thank the Oak Bluffs selectmen for their progressive shift in strategy that will undoubtedly lead us to the place where everyone wants to come to Martha’s Vineyard because our beaches are so attractive.
