On Sunday, Dec. 21, beginning at 1 p.m., Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation is hosting a free guided walk through Pocketapaces, a scenic location by the Edgartown Great Pond. Some of the features of the area include a small sea level fen (wetland) located at the head of Jane’s Cove, oak woodlands, scrub oak barrens, grasslands and shrub swamp. There will also be a discussion of frostbottoms.

The guided walk is part of the Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation’s ongoing education program, which also includes a school program and a public lecture series.

The walk will last approximately two hours. Meet at the State Forest parking lot located on the Edgartown-West Tisbury Road across from the entrance to Pohogonot Road in Edgartown. No reservations are needed.
