I cannot believe Thanksgiving passed and I didn’t update you on my neighbors, the Jahries, trip to Northfield for a fabulous family reunion. Judy and her husband packed up daughter Emily and her family and drove off to Northfield to join daughter Sara’s family. Son Pete drove his group up from Maryland. A great time was had by all; I hope they are repeating some of it next week at someone’s home. Safe travels to all who are coming and going this week!

Our library wants to inform you of some scheduling changes throughout the holidays. There will be no program Tuesday night, Dec. 23. The library will close at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 24, and will reopen on Dec. 26 at 10 a.m. Meanwhile, if you have not caught David Grey’s exhibit of Art in the Stacks yet this December, do so during regular library hours. On Tuesday night, Dec. 30, the program room at the library features a free movie, The Giver, starring Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep. Be there by 7 p.m. and enjoy Betty Burton’s incomparable popcorn.

Our Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse offers no end of entertainment for the holidays, and if you have guests bring them, too. Our truly talented theatre group, Molly Conole, Paul Munafo, Phil Dietterich, Kenny Romero, Shelagh Hackett, Kasey Stevenson and Anna Yukevich will delight you tomorrow night at 7:30 with a winter holiday cabaret. Tickets are $23 in advance. Jamie Alley will host movie night at the playhouse on Monday with the help of Island Entertainment. They will be playing the classic Meet Me in St. Louis starring Judy Garland, June Lockhart and Marjorie Main under the direction of Vincente Minnelli.

The birthday bandwagon pulls along Ron Jackson today. December 20 is a party for Susan Woods, Christian Ciancio and Carissa Noel Doup. December 21 honors Cathy Weiss and Dec. 22 shines on Salley Benson, Monica Radoszewski, John Giles and Stephen Dunham Sr. On Dec. 24 Stephen Perry, Emily Chappell and Leo Kelley celebrate. And on Dec. 25, Kelly dos Reis takes the cake.

My wish to you all is that next Thursday morning, in your homes, in your hearts and under your trees, may you all find peace.
