Walter Robinson’s gospel opera Look What a Wonder comes to the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center, sponsored by the Martha’s Vineyard NAACP. The opera tells the story of Denmark Vesey, a slave who bought his freedom after purchasing a winning ticket in the Charleston, S.C., lottery in 1822. His wife and children remained enslaved however, and the opera tells a story of resistance, courage and his fight for justice.

There will be time for discussion after the 12:30 p.m. presentation on Sunday, Feb. 8. For information, call the NAACP at 508-696-5785 or the film center at 508-696-9369.
