The Martha’s Vineyard Savings Bank Charitable Fund, a donor-advised fund with the Permanent Endowment for Martha’s Vineyard, announced its grants for the final quarter of 2014. These include quarterly charitable fund grants made to Island nonprofits, as well as annual educational mini-grants made to teachers.

Community nonprofit groups receiving grants include Martha’s Vineyard Center for Living for dementia certificate training, Island Children’s School for an educational enrichment program, Island Grown Schools for curriculum and resource toolkits, The Yard for a youth program, Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival for an educational enrichment program and West Tisbury Free Public Library for a teen room mobile display.

The applications for educational mini-grants from Island teachers increased dramatically this year. In response to the elevated need, the bank added to the allocated funding from the Permanent Endowment so that as many teachers’ requests as possible could be accommodated. Applications represented a cross section of the Island’s teachers, from preschool through high school, and also included charter school teachers. The grants will allow the teachers to purchase robotics, books, educational tools and software, and other supplies for their classes.
