The Cape and Vineyard Electric Cooperative will be holding a ribbon-cutting celebration next week to inaugurate the new West Tisbury solar photovoltaic project located on the West Tisbury capped landfill.

The 708-kilowatt project is one of several projects included in 17 CVEC photovoltaic projects for eight towns. The West Tisbury project is expected to provide $58,000 in financial benefits to the town by the end of the first year, according to a press release from CVEC.

The ceremony will be held rain or shine on April 28 at 10:45 a.m. at the West Tisbury transfer station. The ceremony is open to the public and light refreshments will be available; attendees are asked to park carefully because the transfer station will be open.
