A Vineyard Haven woman was arraigned April 10 on several counts of breaking and entering a building and larceny from a building, with police saying she allegedly broke into a neighbor’s house repeatedly to take prescription pills and other items.

Karen K. Blake, 60, was arraigned April 10 in Edgartown district court on 27 counts of breaking and entering a building in the daytime for a felony, four counts of larceny from a person 65 or older, four counts of larceny from a building and one count of larceny more than $250 by a single scheme.

According to a police statement filed in court, Ms. Blake’s neighbor at Village Court apartments noticed medication and other items missing from her home, and set up a motion-activated surveillance camera. According to the statement, Ms. Blake allegedly could be seen in several video clips unlawfully entering the alleged victim’s home. According to police, prescription drugs including Adderall, Oxycodone, Oxycontin, Lorazepam, Methadone and Percocet were taken, as well as jewelry, cash, and food. The alleged victim said she believed the thefts had been going on for two years, the statement said.

Bail was set at $1,000 and Ms. Blake was ordered to stay away from the alleged victim and to refrain from illicit drug use with screens. A pretrial hearing was continued to May 29.
