A Vineyard Haven man was arraigned May 7 in Edgartown District Court on 31 counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under the age of 14.

Helio G. Deoliveira, 62, is accused of sexually assaulting a child known to him over a time period spanning from January 2013 to April 2015, according to court documents.

Officials at the Dukes County Jail said he was released on $10,000 bail. As a condition of bail, the Hon. J. Thomas Kirkman ordered Mr. Deoliveira to stay away from the alleged victim and imposed a curfew from 11:30 p.m. to 10 a.m. Judge Kirkman also ordered Mr. Deoliveira to wear a GPS tracking device while free on bail and to surrender his passports.

Mr. Deoliveira is next due in court on June 4.
