Bread and Puppet Theatre, the legendary troupe from Vermont, is coming to Martha’s Vineyard from May 27 through Sunday May 31. Bread and Puppet is now in its 52nd year of touring and performing around the world.

The Wednesday, May 27 event will take place at the Chilmark Community Center, and include face painting and mask making from 4 to 6 p.m., a potluck dinner from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m., and a performance at 6:45 p.m. There will also be a parade and anyone who wants to join in on the fun should contact ken@film-truth.com for details.

On Saturday, May 30, everyone heads to the Katharine Cornell Theatre, 54 Spring street, Vineyard Haven, for two shows — 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., with the early show being especially kid-friendly.

On Sunday, it’s back up-Island to the Aquinnah town hall, located at 65 State Road. The show begins at 3:30 p.m. A portion of the ticket sales will benefit the campaign to Save the Gay Head Lighthouse.

Bread and Puppet was founded by Peter Schumann, and his famous sourdough rye and aioli will be served after all shows.
