Five Vineyard swimmers will be competing in the Bay State summer games.

Ben Yancey, Oliver Dorr, Gabby Carr, Harrison Dorr and Evan Sauter will represent the southeastern/coastal region in the annual summer event.

The Bay State summer games began in 1982 as a competition similar to the Olympics; student athletes from around the commonwealth compete in 26 different sports. The Vineyard sent five student athletes to the qualifying round and all five advanced to the finals, which will be held be held July 11 and 12 at Harvard University.

The swimmers have all been on the Makos swim team at the YMCA under the guidance of coach Rainy Goodale, a national champion swimmer.
