First it is hot then cold, the sun is shining then it is raining, then there is fog then it is clear, then there is wind then there is calm.

Mother Nature is playing with us.

Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Jason Boudreau, Aidan Smith, Jordan Souza and Emma Waltersdorf, who all celebrated their day June 30, Abner Oliveira, July 1, Maria DeFreitas, June 2, and to Matthew Gonsalves and Nicholas Perini, who celebrate their birthday July 3.

Congratulation to Jonathan Beaulieu and Robyn Lopes-Beaulieu on the birth of their daughter Faye Kathryn.

Faye came into the world on June 20 at 4:47 weighing 6 lbs 3 oz and was 19 inches long. She is the granddaughter of Carl and Barbara Lopes of Vineyard Haven, and Susan and Mark Haskell.

It was a great day for all of us at Donaroma’s as Jonathan works in the nursery and we were excited about his first child being born. I have to say since he has been back to work he has had a very nice smile on his face, especially when he talks about his new daughter. Congratulations to all and we look forward to keeping up with Faye as she grows up.

For the past 28 years I have watched the comings and goings of the school and my favorite day is the last day of school. The kids are smiling and some are bearing presents for their teachers, some are talking to their friends about the summer and they are talking about field day which happens the last day of school.

Of course I can’t say the same things for the parents. I am sure many of them are thinking about what they will do with the kids for the whole summer.

I am looking forward to Saturday as the Colonial Navy of Fall River will be in my yard again for the first time in four years. Usually my brother and his family have been renting a house in Katama and that is where the Navy has been camping for the day. But this year they are coming here. I am looking forward to spending time with the older members of the Navy plus meeting the new members.

Well July is upon us, and there is a lot of traffic, the bikes paths are filling with walkers, runners, and bikes. Please be mindful of all the above. It takes one minute to let someone out the side streets. And if you are on a bike be careful of the pedestrians. We want everyone to have a safe and happy summer.

Don’t forget the parade on Saturday. It starts off at 5 p.m. then the fireworks begin at dark. I hope you all have a great holiday weekend whatever you may be doing.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
