Dreaming of the winter weather takes your mind off the heat and humidity, at least for a moment. The weather has been beautiful all week and the honeysuckle are now in bloom. Thankfully the holiday weekend was a quiet one.

The annual Old South Road parade was again a success and thank you to Christine and Tom Murphy and their children Tim and Kate for providing the reviewing stand each year. The parade has grown over the years and many more Old South Road residents have joined in, providing a wonderful adventure for the children. Sorry I missed it this year.

Although I may have missed the Old South Road and Edgartown parades, I would not miss the friends, food, and fun at the home of Max and Cheryl Batzer and their sons, Travis and newly-married Lucas. Most of their guests are from the west end of Aquinnah and we only have the opportunity one night of the year to catch up with each other. After all, most of them just reside down the road. Perhaps it is the wrong beach I have been going to all this time. Many families from Chilmark were also in attendance.

Get well wishes to my friend Jim Barrett who has been a patient at Massachusetts General Hospital over the week.

Gary and Lisa Foster are at their East Pasture home and enjoyed a visit from their daughter Daryn. Their daughter Kayla has recently taken a new position and moved to San Francisco and could not be here for the holiday.

Clare and David Kane are at their home for the season and it was especially nice to see them as David recuperates from a major illness that required a stay at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Lisa Kantrowitz and her husband Dr. Elliott Fankuchen enjoyed the holiday weekend with a visit from her mother Jean Kantrowitz as well as all four of their children, Alex, Olivia, Sam, and Peter who arrived from California. Much reminiscing about their Lobsterville home and the many friends who stayed with them. They have since moved to a larger abode just over the town line.

John McKinstry returned on Tuesday after spending the past month in Manhattan. His presence has been greatly missed.
