Edgartown police are investigating the reported theft of $50,000 worth of jewelry belonging to a reality TV star.

Kelly Killoren Bensimon, a model and former star of Bravo reality television series The Real Housewives of New York, reported on social media and to Page Six this week that she had $50,000 worth of jewelry stolen out of a new black Cadillac Escalade parked in Edgartown on August 26. The jewelry was in a canvas Black Dog bag, she said.

Ms. Bensimon told Page Six that the jewelry included Hermès bracelets, Cartier tricolor gold bangles, a Rolex Daytona watch and Mauboussin diamond ring and had sentimental value. She said she is offering a reward for their return.

On Monday, Edgartown police said they are investigating the stolen property report. According to police, the theft took place at about 4 p.m. on August 26 while Ms. Bensimon was out for a sail on a private charter. The Escalade was parked in the parking lot at the end of Dock street by the Edgartown Yacht Club.

Edgartown police said anyone with information about the incident should contact the police department at 508-627-4343 or crimetips@edgartown-ma.us. Tips can be texted to 774-310-1190.
