On August 28 our column included a story about multiple dogs in a residence on the Oak Bluffs/Vineyard Haven town line. It was inadvertently reported in this column that these dogs were “rescued,” possibly implying that they were neglected. In fact, the dogs’ owners had a pet sitter on-site to provide daily care. The owners voluntarily surrendered their dogs to the shelter in the hope that the dogs would find their forever homes. We regret any misunderstandings that might have occurred as a result of this report. We are happy to report that all the golden retrievers have been adopted. Storm, the gentle seven-year-old male husky, is still at the shelter hoping to find a home soon.

Jordan, the stray cat found on Chappaquidick, has been reunited with her owners, who were very delighted to have found their pet.

Team Orange has scored first in the cat room competition. Lovely ragdoll Toby has been adopted! His teammate Nike is only four years old and is still waiting for someone to come for him. Six-year-old coal black brothers Forrest and Bubba are still waiting as well. With fall coming they are all hoping for nice warm laps to nap in.

Daenerys, the elderly dilute calico with a lovely disposition, is taking life easy in the cat condo. The adoption fee will be waived for the angel who makes her life complete, as it will for our elderly orange gentleman Milo.
