If you don’t like the weather in New England wait a minute. How true is this statement this past week? We went from hot and humid to chilly and windy in a matter of minutes. It is also the time of year when it is warmer outside than it is in your house. But personally I am sure enjoying the cooler weather.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated this past month. Big balloons go out to Ilana Kagan who celebrated her day Sept. 1; Talia Estrella, Sept. 6; Simone Albino, Tessa Hammond and Jackson Munson, who all celebrated Sept. 7; Kimberly Marques, and Jack O’Brien, Sept. 8; Tyler Vanderhoop, Sept. 9; Anina Garvin, Sept. 10; Isaac Trance, Sept. 12; Caroline Kelleher, Sept. 14; Benjamin Burgoyne, Colin Hurley, Sept. 16; Jaydon Fuller, Luiz Lacerda, Isabella Osborn, Vinny Paciello and Wyatt Thornton who all celebrated Sept. 19; Christopher Cardoza and Michael Magaraci, Sept. 20; and to Michael Waters who celebrates his day Sept. 25.

Special birthday wishes go out to Cathy Ivory who will celebrate her day Sept. 27.

It is funny how the seasons affect us. It is starting to get darker earlier so the outside activities are slowing down. At work today I was listening to talk about tonight’s premiere of a television show or finding out what happened with the cliff hanger from last season. That means to me things are definitely settling down and we are getting ready to hunker down for the winter. Even though we know there are some busy days still coming up and the weather will still be good to do things, we are preparing for the next season already.

Speaking of seasons, did you know you only have 12 weeks till Christmas? That is a lifetime for a child, but for us older folks it is only 12 weekends to get gifts, wrap them and cook. Yikes.

The Martha’s Vineyard Museum will hold the 14th annual Ceremony of Remembrance at the Edgartown Lighthouse Children’s Memorial on Saturday, Sept. 26, (rain date Oct. 3) at 1 p.m. The museum, under license from the town of Edgartown, opens the tower to the public on a seasonal schedule and maintains the ongoing Children’s Memorial project.

Forty-six new stones have been added in the past year, with names of children of all ages and from across the country. The ceremony is an opportunity for families and friends to gather and remember all of the 700 children who are part of the Memorial. Saturday, Sept. 26, will be the 14th such observance. Refreshments will be provided by the Harbor View Hotel. Please call 508-627-4441 for more information.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
