Big Brothers Big Sisters of Martha’s Vineyard hosted their annual MV Big Golf Fore Kids tournament, sponsored by Martha’s Vineyard Savings Bank and Mink Meadows Golf Club, in blustery weather on Oct. 4.

The wind added to the competition of the day on the Mink Meadows course. This year’s champion team and the recipients of the Howard W. Leonard memorial trophy was comprised of JC Murphy, Bruce Stone, Lenny Vanderhoop and John Rancourt with a score of 63.75. Coming in a close second with a score of 64 were Tabor Caron, Lizzie Williamson, Christopher Mayhew and Zak Danz. The third place team consisting of Brad Simpkins, Finn Simpkins and Dan McCarthy was close behind with a score of 64.37.

John Rancourt and Kaitlyn Marchand won the closest to the pin contest.

Breakfast was provided by Edgartown Meat and Fish Market and the Black Dog Cafe, and lunch was courtesy of Cronig’s Market and Little Rock Farm, with beverages donated by Coca Cola, Our Market and Al’s Package Store. Big Brothers Big Sisters thanked the community for pitching in for the event, particularly Mink Meadows and Chet Nowack for coordinating the day.

The golf is over for this year, but the chance to volunteer is not. Big Brothers Big Sisters is searching for adult mentors and program volunteers. For more information, call 508-696-5497.
