The shelter residents have not changed in the past week. Both Beauty, the long-haired, frosted tip seven-year-old female, and the elderly, orange male Milo are biding their time in the cat room waiting for that special person to come for them. Ten-year-old male Chaps, who is white with black markings, has just joined them. Please stop by to see if any of them might be your new best friend, or even just to visit. They love the company.

The Animal Rescue League of Boston’s spay and neuter wagon paid a visit to the Island on Nov. 18 and spayed or neutered four dogs and 12 cats. Thank you to everyone who brought in their pets, and to all the volunteers for their help. If you are interested in reserving a space for a future date please contact the shelter or your local animal control officer.

The spay/neuter wagon will now be coming to the Island on a regular basis and the shelter is seeking donations to help sponsor this important service. Donations can made to the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard or through your local animal control officer.

On Dec. 5 at 11:30 a.m. Constance Messmer, author of Some Dogs Talk, will be holding an informational talk at the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard. Ms. Messmer is a professional psychic, medium and channel who has lectured and taught psychic development to both adults and children. Her book aims to teach animal communication through the story of Tony, a young boy who psychically converses with dogs, but second guesses his skills to the point that he thinks he may be imagining it. It leads both Tony and the reader into deeper relationships with their animal friends. The talk will focus on animal communication through psychic connection. Copies of the book are available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble and campshorts.com. Please join us for this fascinating event which aims to help you strengthen your bond with your pet.
