Well the weather outside is not frightful, nor is it beginning to look a lot like Christmas. In fact today I thought it might be time to plant spring flowers. The oil companies are probably not to happy but we cannot complain.
Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Alissa Habekost, who celebrated her day Dec. 12; Kaua De Assism, Harrison Neville-Arena, Dec. 13; Margaret Moffet, Dec. 14; Jenna Hathaway, Matheus Rodrigues, Dec. 15; and to Quinten Cabral, and Shamere Coke who celebrate their day today, Dec. 18.
Christmas in Edgartown seemed to be a great success. The weather cooperated and the people were all here to enjoy their weekend.
We worked hard at Donaroma’s for many weeks. We started to wrap the pergola in October with over 10,000 white lights, and that was the beginning of many more. But with all the work that was involved, it was all worth it when seeing the smiles on people’s faces both young and old.
I was not able to go downtown on Saturday, but word has it that it was like an August day. The streets were packed and they said there were over 600 people at the Chowder Fest.
Saturday, Dec. 19, the Edgartown Library has a program for children. Go and make a gift. Choices are calendars (bring your pictures), necklaces, picture frames, ornaments and other ideas from 1 to 4 p.m.
My neighbors Judy and Harry Stotz were here for the weekend and it was good to see Harry looking so good after a few surgeries. I loved seeing the lights on and they had some Christmas lights to make their house look festive.
Like many people this past weekend my family was here and we dined out both Friday and Saturday night. Friday was a party of 10 at the Wharf and as usual it was a great meal for all of us and the hit is always the Chowder Fries. People who have never heard of them or don’t like chowder say yuk or ewww, but after one or two bites they are hooked. We have never had a bad meal there and it is a great family restaurant.
Saturday night we were a party of 16 people. So we decided on the Grill on Main. We are never disappointed and their two-for-one menu or prix fixe menu makes an easy decision except when they have the rib-eye steak with sizzled onions on top. That to me is the best. We are very lucky to have such great places to eat and accommodate big or little family parties.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
