The shelter is looking for an experienced golden retriever lover for our 18-month-old pup Charlie. He is a large puppy, full of that golden enthusiasm, and intelligent enough to benefit from someone willing to put the time into training him. This dog has the potential to become a great companion.

Our other canine resident, Bob Marley, is looking for a new lady in his life. If you’d love to own a lab, but are daunted by the size, and tail, Bob could be just for you. He’s a mid-sized model, with a short coat colored inky black, the face of a Labrador retriever and the stance and tail of a boxer. At three years of age his personality reflects his retriever heritage; friendly, affectionate and energetic. Shelter staff feel this boy may be better suited to a female owner.

Sweet Milo, free to a good home. — Alison L. Mead

In the cat room the residents —11-year-old white and black boy Chaps and orange elder statesman Milo — are taking it easy. New at the shelter are Curious, a nine-year-old tuxedo male who adores attention, and an adult female tuxedo, found as a stray on Chappaquiddick who we are calling Maryanne. Please contact the shelter if you think Maryanne may be your pet.

Beauty, our seven-year-old long-haired frosted tip female cat has had a gentleman caller, and now has an adoption pending. Best wishes to this couple, may they spend many happy years together. And tabby cat Nicholas has found a new best friend. His adoptive family has a young boy he can spend hours playing with.

The shelter would also like to thank the high school radio station, 105.5 FM, for featuring the shelter on their reggae show. And the music is awesome as well.

Shelter hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday and Monday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.
