A disciplinary hearing for a Vineyard prosecutor has been continued to June.

Cape and Islands assistant district attorney Laura Marshard is facing possible disciplinary action pending the outcome of a hearing before the state Board of Bar Overseers. Ms. Marshard lives in West Tisbury and frequently handles cases in the Vineyard courts.

A complaint against her by the Office of Bar Counsel alleges professional misconduct in her handling of three different criminal cases in Edgartown. Ms. Marshard has refuted the charges and is represented by an attorney in the matter.

The hearing began last week in Boston and continued over three days this week. A spokesman for the Board of Bar Overseers confirmed Friday that the hearing is scheduled to continue on June 7, 13, and 26.

Disciplinary cases against prosecutors are considered rare.
