An Edgartown businessman and massage therapist was arrested last week and charged with indecent assault and battery for alleged sexual assault on two different occasions.

Sebastian M. Pattavina, 52, of Edgartown, was arraigned on Sept. 27 in Edgartown district court on four counts of indecent assault and battery on a person aged 14 or over.

Mr. Pattavina lists himself as the owner of Mod Spa, a business located at the Triangle.

According to documents filed in court, Edgartown police officers responded on Sept. 14 to a complaint of alleged sexual assault from a female employee of the Mod Spa. A police report said the employee informed the police that her boss, Mr. Pattavina, allegedly offered to give her a massage in August of 2017 and then proceeded to touch her inappropriately and without her consent.

Police said during an interview, the employee informed officers that Mr. Pattavina had allegedly committed another sexual assault on Sept. 12 of this year that she had witnessed during a couples massage at the Mod Spa. According to the report, Mr. Pattavina allegedly sexually assaulted a female client by inappropriately touching her while her husband received a massage in a nearby room.

Mr. Pattavina is scheduled to appear in court for pretrial hearing on Nov. 19.
