A line of classic cars will pull into the Winnetu Oceanside Resort this Sunday, June 11 for the sixth annual Car-B-Q Classic Power Cruise and Auto Show.

Drivers shift into gear at 11 a.m. with a power cruise traveling from the Edgartown School, down Katama Road and onto the Winnetu lawn. With hamburgers or hotdogs in hand, spectators can meander through the rows of cars until 2 p.m.

“It’s just such a great way for Islanders with classic cars to show them off,” said Winnetu general manager Matt Moore. “We got rained out last year which was an extreme disappointment...Now we’re on and have our team ready to go.”

This year, attendees can enjoy a $12 barbecue lunch that includes two hotdogs or a hamburger, potato or macaroni salad, chips and a drink. There will also be freshly popped popcorn, cotton candy and a full outdoor bar at The Dunes restaurant.

Drivers with the three most popular vehicles, as decided by spectators, will receive trophies. Car owners will also determine a best-in-show award.

“This is the [Car-B-Q’s] inaugural year at Winnetu,” said Mr. Moore. “In future years we hope to make it even bigger, maybe with bounce houses.”

The event is sponsored by Toyota, the Vineyard Gazette and the Tisbury Firefighters Association. Admission is free.
