The Harbor View Hotel was recently named a climate leader by the state’s Mass Save program.

The Edgartown hotel received the honor Oct. 5, one of 14 commercial and industrial organizations across the state to be recognized.

Mass Save is a program that provides rebates, incentives, training, and other resources to help residents and businesses to become more energy efficient.

“Receiving this award fills us with immense pride,” Harbor View Hotel owner Bernard Chiu said in a statement. “We have invested more than $5 million dollars in making our property more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. This investment has helped to reduce our carbon footprint and preserve the beauty of our island.”

The hotel has installed smart thermostats that automatically lower temperatures after guests check out, low-usage shower heads and toilets, and a trash compactor to limit trash pickups, among other things.

Cape Light Compact nominated the Harbor View for the award.
