The Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah) will hold its annual elections and general membership meeting Nov. 19.

The election will have three seats up for grabs, said tribal council secretary Nefititi Jette.

Incumbent Steven Craddock is being challenged by Kayla Darcy for a Tribal Council-At-Large seat. Ms. Darcy previously ran for the council but wasn't elected.

Incumbent Clarence Alvin Clark Jr. is running for vice chair and NaDaizja Bolling is a write-in candidate for the position. William Durwood Vanderhoop is running for the treasurer position. He will face off against Stephanie White, who is mounting a write-in campaign.

The tribal website says Ms. White, the current tribal treasurer, has held the position for more than 20 years.

This year’s election will be the first where tribal members will be able to vote by mail-in ballot and in person. Last year, the tribe intended to hold hybrid in-person and mail-in elections for the chairperson and secretary positions, but later announced all voting would occur by mail due to logistical issues.

In-person polling hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Nov. 19, with mail-in ballots due by the close of business on Friday, Nov. 17.
