Hans F. Lorenz, 81, Was Engineering Executive

Hans F. Lorenz, 81, of the Highlands at Wyomissing, Pa., a retired engineering firm executive, died Nov. 15 at the Highlands Healthcare Center. His wife, Evelyn M. Belisle Lorenz, died Dec. 13, 1996. They had a summer residence in Oak Bluffs for many years.

Born in Hamburg, Germany, he was a son of the late Wilhelm and Adele Sauerland Lorenz. He received a degree in civil engineering in 1949 from the College of Structural Engineering in Hamburg, Germany, and a diploma in structural engineering from the City and Guilds of London Institute in Frankfurt, Germany. Mr. Lorenz, who had been employed by Gilbert Associates as an engineer, later became president of Gilbert-Commonwealth, serving from 1984 until his retirement in 1986.

He is survived by a daughter, Susan E. Flynn of Robeson Township, Pa., and a sister, Edelgard Hermann of Frankfurt, Germany.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 25, at the Highlands auditorium. Bean Funeral Home of Sinking Spring, Pa., is in charge of arrangements.
